Our August program will be on Veneer Images brought to us by Rob Milam. Rob will showcase several pieces of marquetry wall art both complete and some in progress. He will walk us through the construction process of a typical project, discussing among other things veneer cutting, assembly, and organization. The emphasis of the program will be on design. Rob has been involved in the commercial and residential building trades since graduation from Auburn University in 1993. His involvement in these trades has demanded an eye for engineering and architecture, and later carpentry, furniture design and fine woodworking. Rob’s history of a lifetime immersed in fundamental elements that has culminated in a love for marquetry, an avocation that he loves more than any he has experienced. Rob has drawn upon the talents of such craftsmen as Paul Schurch , Silas Kopf and his father Jim to learn much about fine woodworking.
