2017 May Meeting Notice

May Meeting Change:

There will not be a regular Monday meeting at Woodcraft during May.
The next regular meeting is June 12.

Change in Plans for May 20 Mini-symposium . . .

Our plans to have a mini-symposium at Peach State Lumber have changed.  Unfortunately, our presenter, Mark Barr has had some medical issues that prevent him for leading a discussion on use of routers.  We will try to have him make this presentation at some time in the future.

However, Peach State has volunteered to host Guild members on the morning of May 20, between 9:00 am and 11:00 am,

They will offer lumber specials, along with the usual special  pricing normally offered at the mini-symposiums. In addition, the Guild will provide coffee and donuts to facilitate socializing among members.

To help us plan this event, please indicate your plan to attend on May 20 by sending an email to Gary Fader (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call him at (770) 977-7271).

We hope to see you on Saturday morning, May 20 at Peach State Lumber.

Show & Tell

Bring a sample of your work to our regular Monday night meetings to share with the group. Briefly discuss your inspiration for the project, wood species used, special techniques and the finish.

Toy-Building Activity for Scottish Rite Hospital

As you are aware, one of the Guild's primary objectives is to help charitable causes through our woodworking skills. In past years, Guild members have made many toys for children in-firmed and family members at Scottish Rite Hospital.  This year, we are planning another such program and ask Guild members to give some of their time and participate in a toy-building program.

We have dedicated the July 10th main meeting to toys assembly.  To prepare for this activity, Woodcraft has volunteered the use of its store shop area for fabricating the toy parts on June 22, from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Please mark your calendars for these dates and join us on June 22 as time permits in this very worthwhile activity.

The toys we will be making are pick-up trucks, tray puzzles, and wooden dolls.  Home Depot and Suwanee Lumber have graciously donated 100 bf of pine lumber and 3 sheets of 1/4 inch plywood, respectively, for this effort.

We hope to see you at woodcraft on June 22nd and July 10th.  No need to bring anything but your interest and skills.  If you have any questions, please contact Gary Fader (This email address is being protected from spambots.
